The NeSmith Late Model World Championship
Last Saturday night was a mixed bag of emotions for JPM when at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala for the Nesmith Late Model World Championship. This was Jake's fourth weekend on dirt in one of the biggest races in the South. Drivers, 49 in all, from all over the country were in Ocala fighting for the $10,000 first prize. Jake was attempting to qualify for the main event through the B-Main but got knocked out when two cars in front of him tangled and brought him along. With the car being severely damaged, the team thought the night was over and then learned that Jake was the highest point qualifier from the track not in the race and got a provisional entry. The team got right to work and two hours later had a car they could put on the track. The car was obviously not in A-1 condition and Jake had quite a challenge keeping it together. He started 26th and finished the 100 laps in 13th, quite an evening. Kudos to Shawn and the crew for a very valiant effort.
This was our final scheduled event for the year, we will be communicating any changes on Jake's FB Fan Page. While we have not published a full schedule for 2014, we are planning on running the Red Eye in January at New Smyrna. We will publish specifics when we have finalized them. We wish all a blessed Christmas and holiday season.
