Team Finishes Second at Auburndale

Last Saturday, Jake had his best finish to date in the Florida United Promoter’s Super Late Model race series. The race was at Auburndale Speedway in Winter Haven. The 2011 series Rookie of the Year started fifth, was involved in an accident on lap 55 and for the remaining 45 laps drove a damaged car to a second place finish. Jake gave a lot of the credit to his spotter Edward Howell, and crew chief Jimmy Cope for helping him deal with the damaged car and keeping his position on the track. This was the second series race of the year. Jake briefly led in the first race in Bradenton, ran second for 58 laps and was pushed into the wall on a restart which ended his night.

The next series race is at New Smyrna Speedway on April 7th. This will be a very special night, in that Jake will be hosting a group from the Children’s Home Society of Florida. Jake will also be driving the new car (all fixed up) and looking for another top finish. Come out and support Jake and have a great night.

Accident Ends The First Race Of The Season

On Saturday evening, at the opening race of the Florida United Promoter's Series in Bradenton, Jake had his strongest run since moving to the super late model car. He started the 100 lap race in fifth place and quickly moved up to second, briefly gaining the lead on a restart. He ran second for 50 plus laps until he was hit in the rear and sent into the wall ending his night. Despite the accident, it was an extremely positive night because it showed that he has the ability, when his car is right, to run at the front of the pack. Jake wishes to thank all those who have sent their thoughts and prayers his way, he really appreciates it.

Jake's upcoming schedule includes a D.A.R.E. talk to 5th grade students on Friday, appearance at the Palm Chevrolet tent at the Ocala Pumpkin Run - Horsepower in Horse Country - this Friday through Sunday, and a talk and interactive meeting with the Children's Home Society JIVE group on Sunday evening. Jake's next race will be a 100 lap Florida United Promoter's Series event at Auburndale Speedway.
